External Solid Timber Doors

Timber doors bring their natural elegance and warmth to your home, and are a great choice for complementing both traditional and contemporary styles. Incorporating glass gives you the benefit of the rich character of natural timber, while inviting an uplifting flow of natural light into your rooms and hallways. We have solid and glazed timber ranges for front doors, back doors, side, laundry and garage entrances, in both single and double configurations. You can even add matching side panels, for a real statement entrance.

Our timber doors are made from 100% solid Pacific Ash timber from a sustainable source. Not only are they naturally beautiful and stately, but these doors are strong and durable and can be re-sanded as required. All of our timber is quarter sawn, not face cut, which makes the wood more stable and gives it a straighter grain. Quarter sawn wood has much less tendency to cup, bend and warp, so your doors can stand up to the elements and will continue to look their best for years to come.

As well as classic hinged options, we have folding, sliding and stacking timber solutions to open up your living area onto a patio or verandah, so that you can enjoy flexible living and get the benefit of your outside space all year round. With a choice of designs and finish options, timber doors are effortlessly versatile at fitting in with your style and enhancing your home from every angle.

FAQ

Our external timber doors are 100% solid Pacific Ash timber. It’s best to choose a solid material for your external doors for maximum security, resilience and insulation. Hollow core doors are less robust, and are easier for an intruder to kick in.

External timber doors require care and attention to keep them looking their best, and to get the most out of them. By following a few simple steps, you can ensure that your doors last for many years, both structurally and aesthetically.
A simple first step is to make sure your doors have some overhead protection, and you should keep them clean by regularly wiping them down so that they don’t gather dust and moisture. Ensure they are thoroughly sealed all over, including the front and back faces and all four edges. Finally, every 12-18 months, you should give them a light sanding and reseal with a clear varnish or painted finish.

No, we do not recommend this. For more information, please refer to our blog post: https://www.doorsplus.com.au/3-reasons-why-you-should-avoid-painting-external-doors-black/

Yes, timber is a natural product that expands and contracts as temperatures rise and fall. External wood doors are likely to expand in Winter and contract or shrink in Summer. This is one of the main reasons that we advise against painting your exterior doors black. You can find more information about this here: https://www.doorsplus.com.au/3-reasons-why-you-should-avoid-painting-external-doors-black/
